About the game

Wario has stolen Mario's castle, and Mario must collect six golden coins to get it back. It traded the first Land's weirdness for big sprites, a world map and Mario's brand-new rival.

Kit's verdict · 8.3/10A charming, inventive Game Boy platformer that introduced the best villain Mario ever got. Kit · Sadkitty Games

Loved

  • Big, expressive sprites
  • Free-choice world map with six zones
  • Bunny Mario and the Macro Zone

Not so much

  • Very easy
  • Floaty physics compared to console Mario

Play it if anyone who wants a short, sweet slice of classic Mario.

Skip it if players looking for a real challenge.

Tips

Play it better

  1. Pick zones in any order; each boss guards one golden coin.
  2. Wario's castle stays locked until you hold all six coins, so clear every zone boss before heading there.
  3. The Carrot turns Mario into Bunny Mario, letting him float slowly to the ground.
  4. Jump high enough to ring the bell above a level's exit to play a bonus game for lives and power-ups.
  5. Spend coins at the map's slot machine for extra lives and power-ups.
