Cheats & codes

No cheat codes

Pitfall! doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.

Tips

Play it better

  1. Each screen in the underground tunnel equals three screens above ground, so tunnels are huge shortcuts.
  2. Rolling logs don't kill you, they just knock points off your score.
  3. Only jump on crocodile heads when their mouths are closed.
  4. Watch quicksand and tar pits open and close, and time your run while they're shut.
  5. Push the joystick down to let go of a vine, and time the release over solid ground.
  6. Map your route, since the treasures are spread across 255 screens and the timer is only 20 minutes.
