The series at its peak, with a soundtrack people still hum and boss order you choose yourself.Kit · Sadkitty Games
Loved
- Weapon-stealing rock-paper-scissors is brilliant
- Legendary soundtrack
- Password system and an easier Normal mode
Not so much
- Some weapons are wildly overpowered
- Quick Man's laser corridors are cheap
Play it if anyone who loves precise action platformers and great chiptune music.
Skip it if players who get frustrated by instant-death spikes and pits.
Cheats & codes
Every Mega Man 2 cheat we know
All eight Robot Masters beaten with four Energy Tanks, ready for Dr. Wily's castle.NES · Place the red dots on these grid squares on the password screen.
Single-player only. Cheats can turn off achievements and some saves; use them on a spare save.
Tips
Play it better
- Start with Air Man or Metal Man; the Metal Blade is cheap to fire, shoots in eight directions and wrecks most of the game.
- Bubble Lead wrecks Heat Man, Leaf Shield beats Air Man, Air Shooter beats Crash Man, and only Crash Bomber hurts Wily's Boobeam Trap.
- Flash Man's Time Stopper freezes the deadly lasers in Quick Man's stage while you drop through them.
- Item-2, the jet sled, is the fastest way across Crash Man's and Wily's long gaps.
- The Boobeam Trap fight needs exactly enough Crash Bomber ammo, so don't waste any on the way.
- Fill Energy Tanks before Wily's castle; the password system remembers up to four.
