Loved
- Fast, crunchy combat with endless build variety
- Story and characters that grow with every death
- Gorgeous art and a killer soundtrack
Not so much
- Late-game Heat grinding is optional but repetitive
- Underworld biomes don't change between runs
Play it if anyone who wants an action game with depth, style and a reason to keep coming back.
Skip it if players who dislike repeating the same areas over and over.
Cheats & codes
No cheat codes
Hades doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.
Tips
Play it better
- Spend your first Darkness on the Mirror of Night's Death Defiance. Extra lives are the biggest early boost.
- Give Nectar to characters to get Keepsakes. Equip one that boosts a specific god's boons to steer your build.
- Combine boons from two gods to unlock powerful Duo boons. Watch for the prompt in the boon description.
- Dash-strike is often your best attack. Many weapons hit harder or faster out of a dash.
- Chaos gates cost health to enter but give strong long-term blessings. Take them when your health is high.
- If a boss is walling you, turn on God Mode in settings. It adds damage resistance that grows a little after each death, and nothing is locked behind not using it.
- Poms of Power upgrade a boon you already own, so save them for your key attack or cast boon.
