- Gwent, the card game you'll lose hours to
Not so much
- Combat feels stiff and floaty for the first few hours
- Inventory and crafting menus are a cluttered mess

No cheat codes
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.
Play it better
- Check the bestiary before a monster contract and coat your silver sword in the matching oil. The damage boost is big.
- Cast the Quen shield before every big fight. It soaks up a full hit and saves you more often than anything else.
- Keep at least one strong alcohol, like Dwarven Spirit, in your bag. Meditating then refills every potion and bomb for free.
- Buy Gwent cards from innkeepers and merchants early. Better cards make the card game much easier and win you rare prizes.
- Some side quests fail or vanish when the story moves on, so clear an area's notice boards before following the main quest away.
- Hunt down witcher school gear diagrams like Griffin, Cat and Wolf. They're the best armor in the game and can be upgraded as you level.
