Nintendo's mascots knock each other off stages in a fast, frantic party fighter. It was the GameCube's best-selling game, and its blistering speed turned it into a competitive scene that's still alive more than 20 years later.

Loved
- Lightning-fast, deep movement
- Huge roster and unlockables
- Great party game and serious esport at once
Not so much
- Steep skill ceiling punishes newcomers
- Single-player modes are thin
Play it if anyone with friends on the couch, and anyone who wants a fighter to master.
Skip it if solo players who want a story or long campaign.
