A hunter arrives in the gothic city of Yharnam during the night of a beast plague, and things only get stranger from there. It took the Dark Souls formula and made it faster, bloodier and more aggressive.
Kit's verdict · 9.5/10
FromSoftware's darkest, boldest game, and still a PS4 exclusive you have to play.Kit · Sadkitty Games
Loved
- Aggressive combat that rewards attacking back
- A creepy world that turns cosmic horror
- The Old Hunters expansion is superb
Not so much
- Stuck at 30fps with frame drops
- Long load times on the original release
Play it if players who love hard combat and dark, mysterious worlds.
Skip it if anyone who hates dying over and over to learn a boss.
Cheats & codes
No cheat codes
Bloodborne doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.
Tips
Play it better
- After taking a hit, attack back right away. The rally system lets you win back lost health.
- Shoot an enemy just as they swing to stagger them, then press attack for a big visceral hit.
- Use quickstep instead of rolling. It's faster and lets you slip behind enemies.
- Fire paper is great against beasts, while bolt paper wrecks the cosmic enemies later on.
- Open every shortcut gate. They often loop back to a lamp and save huge walks.
- Farm blood vials in early areas if you run low. You'll need a healthy stock for later bosses.
