Tips & secrets
About the game

The final version of Street Fighter III pairs stunning hand-drawn animation with the parry system, a high-risk defensive move that rewards perfect reads. It is widely considered one of the deepest fighters ever made.

Kit's verdict · 9.1/10Gorgeous, demanding and endlessly deep; it's the fighting game purist's fighting game. Kit · Sadkitty Games

Loved

  • Some of the best 2D animation ever
  • Parrying adds incredible depth
  • Great hip-hop and jazz soundtrack

Not so much

  • Unforgiving for newcomers
  • A few characters dominate top play

Play it if players who want to master a fighting game over years, not hours.

Skip it if newcomers who want a gentle on-ramp.

Cheats & codes

No cheat codes

Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.

Tips

Play it better

  1. Parry by tapping forward for high and mid attacks or down for lows at the instant the hit lands.
  2. A parry leaves you free to act right away, so punish with your fastest attack.
  3. Pick your Super Art carefully: each fighter chooses one of three before the match, and it shapes their whole game plan.
  4. Medium punch and medium kick together is a universal overhead that beats crouching block.
  5. Chun-Li's second Super Art is a fast, damaging combo ender, which is why she's so popular.
  6. Watch the Judgment grades after each fight; they reward offence, defence and technique, not just winning.
