About the game

Harry Mason wakes after a car crash to find his daughter gone and the town of Silent Hill swallowed by fog and snow. As he searches, the world peels away into a rusted nightmare version of itself. It turned survival horror toward the psychological and the strange.

Kit's verdict · 8.4/10The blueprint for psychological horror, still creepy under its PS1 roughness. Kit · Sadkitty Games

Loved

  • The Otherworld is unforgettable
  • Fog and radio static create real dread
  • Multiple endings reward replays

Not so much

  • Clunky camera and combat
  • Some puzzles are obtuse

Play it if horror fans who can look past old graphics for atmosphere.

Skip it if players who can't stand PS1-era controls.

Cheats & codes

No cheat codes

Silent Hill doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.

Tips

Play it better

  1. Keep the radio on; its static tells you when monsters are close even in the fog.
  2. Turn the flashlight off to slip past enemies when you don't need to fight.
  3. Most monsters aren't worth killing; run past them in the streets to save ammo.
  4. Check the map constantly, since Harry marks blocked roads and locked doors on it.
  5. Save whenever you see a notebook save point; it's a long way between them.
