Seven fighters enter Shang Tsung's tournament in this digitised-actor fighter famous for its gory Fatalities. The Genesis port's blood code made it a sensation and helped create the ESRB rating system.

Loved
- Digitised actors looked shocking in 1993
- Fatalities are memorable
- Secret Reptile fight is a great mystery
Not so much
- Shallow, stiff combat
- Small roster and cheap CPU bosses
Play it if players who want gaming history and a gory laugh with a friend.
Skip it if anyone seeking a deep, balanced fighting game.

Tips
Play it better
- Uppercuts (down plus high punch) do huge damage and are the backbone of play.
- Blocking is a separate button, so get used to holding it rather than pressing back.
- Fatalities must be done right after 'Finish Him!' appears, standing at the right distance.
- Goro is tough up close; keep your distance and use projectiles and jump kicks.
- Sub-Zero's freeze sets up a free uppercut against most opponents.
