Tips & secrets
About the game

Aloy travels west into a post-apocalyptic America overrun by robotic beasts. She hunts machines, explores ruins and uncovers a threat to the whole world. It's one of the best-looking games ever made.

Kit's verdict · 8.2/10A gorgeous, generous sequel that crams in a bit too much busywork. Kit · Sadkitty Games

Loved

  • Stunning visuals and landscapes
  • Superb machine fights
  • Great side activities like Machine Strike

Not so much

  • Cluttered open world
  • Story gets lost in exposition

Play it if fans of the first game and players who love hunting big beasts.

Skip it if anyone tired of map-icon open worlds.

Cheats & codes

No cheat codes

Horizon Forbidden West doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.

Tips

Play it better

  1. Scan every machine with Focus to see its weak spots, elements and detachable parts.
  2. Shoot off heavy weapons like the Ravager cannon with Tearblast arrows, then pick them up and use them.
  3. The Pullcaster grapple and Shieldwing glider make climbing and descending much faster.
  4. Valor Surges are special abilities; pick one that suits your style and use it often.
  5. Upgrade weapons at workbenches, since better rarity weapons gain new ammo types.
  6. Play Machine Strike in settlements; it's a deep board game with its own rewards.
