Kratos and his teenage son Atreus face the end of the Norse world in this direct sequel to 2018's God of War. It visits all nine realms, expands the axe-and-blades combat and leans hard on father-son drama. It's a blockbuster that actually earns its emotional moments.

- Gorgeous realms with real variety
- Excellent performances
Not so much

God of War Ragnarök doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.
Tips
Play it better
- Freeze enemies with the Leviathan Axe, then swap to the Blades of Chaos; fire and ice combos stack damage fast.
- Experiment with shields. Some let you parry, while others charge up a shield bash.
- Upgrade your armor at Brok and Sindri's shops whenever you can; the stat boosts matter more than weapon levels early.
- Use Runic attacks on cooldown. They're your biggest damage and they recharge quickly.
- Save Spartan Rage to heal or escape when you're overwhelmed, not just to deal damage.
- Over 60 accessibility options exist, including auto-pickup and puzzle hints; turn the hints off if you hate being spoiled.
