Kit's verdict · 8.6/10
Still the slickest, most reinvented shooter on earth, if you can survive the 12-year-olds who build skyscrapers in half a second.Kit · Sadkitty Games
Loved
- Constant reinvention keeps it fresh
- Zero Build mode removes the steepest skill wall
- Runs on almost anything, free
Not so much
- Building skill gap is brutal for newcomers
- Item shop pressure is relentless
Play it if anyone who wants a bright, fast, endlessly changing shooter to play with friends.
Skip it if players who hate monetized cosmetics or games that change every few months.
Cheats & codes
No cheat codes
Fortnite doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.
Tips
Play it better
- Drop away from the Battle Bus flight path early on, so you can loot in peace before the crowd arrives.
- If building feels hopeless, play Zero Build: same map and guns, no construction, and far more forgiving.
- When you get shot in build modes, throw up four walls and a ramp (a 'box') before you look for the shooter.
- Hit the glowing blue weak point when harvesting with the pickaxe to gather materials much faster.
- Turn on Visualize Sound Effects in the audio settings; it shows footsteps, chests and gunfire as icons on screen.
- Rotate with the storm early and hug its edge, so fights come to you from one direction only.
- Keep at least one heal and one mobility item in your inventory at all times; most late-game deaths are players caught in the open.
