Tips & secrets
About the game

Engineer Isaac Clarke boards the mining ship USG Ishimura and finds the crew turned into Necromorphs. You kill them by cutting their limbs off, not by shooting their heads. It's a tight sci-fi horror game that set the bar for third-person scares.

Kit's verdict · 9.0/10Space horror with perfect pacing and the best dismemberment system ever made. Kit · Sadkitty Games

Loved

  • Cutting off limbs feels brilliant
  • Health and ammo live on the suit, not a HUD
  • Sound design that keeps you on edge

Not so much

  • Backtracking through the same decks
  • Isaac is almost a blank slate

Play it if anyone who wants Alien-style horror with a great action loop.

Skip it if players who don't want gore or constant dread.

Cheats & codes

No cheat codes

Dead Space doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.

Tips

Play it better

  1. Aim for arms and legs, not heads; headshots barely slow a Necromorph down.
  2. Rotate the Plasma Cutter's beam to line it up with the limbs you're aiming for.
  3. Stomp downed enemies to make sure they're dead and to shake out ammo and credits.
  4. Stasis slows anything down, including doors and machinery; it recharges at stasis stations.
  5. Spend Power Nodes on the Plasma Cutter and your suit's health early; one strong gun beats five weak ones.
  6. Kinesis can pick up limbs and throw them back at enemies to save ammo.
  7. Some locked storage rooms need a Power Node to open, so only spend one if you know you'll still have enough for upgrades.
