Cheats & codes

No cheat codes

Wordle doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.

Tips

Play it better

  1. Open with a word packed with common letters, such as SLATE, CRANE or TRACE.
  2. Use your second guess to test five fresh letters if the first gave you little, rather than locking in a weak lead.
  3. Remember that letters can repeat; words like SPOON or GEESE catch out many players.
  4. Grey letters are gone for good, so never reuse them while you are still exploring.
  5. When you have four green letters and many options, pick a guess that rules out several of them at once.
