Armed only with a gun that makes linked holes in walls, you solve test chambers for a polite and increasingly sinister AI called GLaDOS. Short, sharp and very funny, it's one of the best-designed games ever made.

Tips
Play it better
- Speed is kept through portals. Drop into one from high up to fly out of the other at speed.
- To 'fling', place a portal on the floor below a drop and the other on a wall facing where you want to go.
- Portals only stick to flat white panels, not dark metal surfaces.
- You can shoot a portal at a turret's base or drop one under it to send it tumbling.
- Look around for marks and cracks in the walls. They hint at places you aren't meant to be.
