Tips & secrets
About the game

You're turned into a vampire and thrown into the bloody politics of night-time Los Angeles. Buggy at launch, it's now a cult classic for its writing, its clan choices and the replay value of playing a madman Malkavian.

Kit's verdict · 8.3/10It's a cracked gem with some of the best writing and atmosphere in PC gaming. Kit · Sadkitty Games

Loved

  • Superb dialogue and characters
  • Clans play very differently
  • Ocean House Hotel is all-time great horror

Not so much

  • Combat-heavy final stretch
  • Unplayably buggy without the fan patch

Play it if fans of dark, adult storytelling who don't mind rough edges.

Skip it if players who need polished combat and stability.

Cheats & codes

No cheat codes

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.

Tips

Play it better

  1. Install the community Unofficial Patch before you play; it fixes hundreds of bugs and restores cut content.
  2. Persuasion and Seduction open the best dialogue routes, so put early points into them.
  3. Breaking the Masquerade five times is game over, so don't use powers in front of humans.
  4. Nosferatu can't walk in public without causing a Masquerade breach, so expect to travel by sewer.
  5. Ventrue are picky drinkers and can't feed on rats or the homeless.
  6. Buy blood packs early; they're the safest way to heal in combat-heavy areas.
