You escape a sorcerer's dungeon and chase him across the city of Athkatla and beyond in this Dungeons & Dragons epic. Packed with companions, quests and dragon fights, it's often called the best classic RPG ever made.
Kit's verdict · 9.6/10
A towering party RPG with a world so dense you'll forget the main quest exists.Kit · Sadkitty Games
Loved
- Huge cast of memorable companions
- Masses of hand-made side quests
- Deep, tactical real-time-with-pause combat
Not so much
- D&D rules are confusing for newcomers
- Mage duels can be brutally unfair
Play it if RPG fans who love party building, banter and long campaigns.
Skip it if players who want action combat or simple rules.

Tips
Play it better
- Pause often with the spacebar and give orders. Fights are won by planning, not speed.
- Breach strips a mage's protective spells. Cast it before you attack wizards with protections up.
- Carry Lesser Restoration or Restoration scrolls to undo level drain from undead.
- Each class gets its own stronghold quest, like a keep for fighters or a thieves' guild for thieves.
- Rest only when safe, since sleeping in dangerous areas invites ambushes.
