About the game

You arrive as a prisoner on the alien island of Vvardenfell, home to giant mushroom towers, ash storms and a living god. It hands you a map, a vague goal and almost no hand-holding.

Kit's verdict · 8.9/10The strangest, most memorable world Bethesda ever built, if you can stand its dice-roll combat. Kit · Sadkitty Games

Loved

  • A truly alien and original setting
  • Total freedom to break the game
  • Rich lore and factions

Not so much

  • Hidden dice rolls make early combat miss constantly
  • Directions are written, not marked on a map

Play it if explorers who love reading, getting lost and finding things themselves.

Skip it if players who want quest markers and fast action.

Tips

Play it better

  1. Read quest directions carefully in your journal. There are no map markers, so the text is your guide.
  2. Use silt striders and boats to travel between towns quickly.
  3. Learn Mark and Recall spells to set your own teleport point and jump back to it anytime.
  4. Early combat misses a lot because of hidden dice rolls. Train your main weapon skill and keep fatigue high.
  5. Alchemy is hugely powerful. Make and sell potions for money and to boost your stats.
