A 2D sandbox where you dig, build and fight through dozens of bosses on the way to a cosmic final battle. It is often called 2D Minecraft, but it has far more combat, loot and structure.
Kit's verdict · 9.1/10
The deepest action sandbox ever made, packed with more content than games ten times its price.Kit · Sadkitty Games
Loved
- Huge boss roster with real progression
- Thousands of items and weapons
- Brilliant in co-op
Not so much
- Very hard to learn without a wiki
- Early hours feel slow and grindy
Play it if loot hunters who like a sandbox with a real progression ladder.
Skip it if players who hate looking up crafting recipes.

Tips
Play it better
- Build simple houses with a door, a table, a chair and a light source to attract NPCs; the Guide tells you what you can craft.
- Get a grappling hook and Hermes Boots early, since mobility makes every fight and dig easier.
- Build a boss arena with long rows of platforms so you can jump and dodge freely.
- Defeating the Wall of Flesh turns your world into Hardmode, so prepare before you fight it.
- Use the Nurse during boss fights to heal for coins, which beats chugging potions.
- Smash Demon or Crimson Altars with the Pwnhammer in Hardmode to spawn new ores.
