Tips & secrets
About the game

Bernard, Hoagie and Laverne must stop Purple Tentacle from taking over the world by sending items between the past, present and future. It's a cartoon comedy with some of the cleverest time-travel puzzles in gaming.

Kit's verdict · 9.5/10A perfect point-and-click: gorgeous, hilarious and constantly inventive. Kit · Sadkitty Games

Loved

  • Beautiful Chuck Jones-style animation
  • Brilliant three-era puzzle design
  • Laugh-out-loud writing and voice acting

Not so much

  • A couple of puzzles are pure cartoon logic
  • Fairly short

Play it if anyone, honestly, but especially fans of cartoons and wordplay.

Skip it if players who can't stand trial-and-error item puzzles.

Cheats & codes

No cheat codes

Day of the Tentacle doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.

Tips

Play it better

  1. Items flushed through the Chron-O-John travel between eras. Use the toilets to pass things between characters.
  2. Changes in the past ripple into the future. If something is stuck in one era, think about what could be changed earlier.
  3. Hoagie in 1776 can talk to the Founding Fathers, who are key to several puzzles.
  4. Switch characters often. Each era has its own stack of puzzles you can work on in parallel.
  5. Look at everything in the mansion. Items that seem decorative are often vital.
