About the game

A real-time grand strategy game where you design an alien species and guide it from its first warp flight to galactic empire. It's a sci-fi story generator packed with strange anomalies, fallen empires and galaxy-ending crises.

Kit's verdict · 8.2/10The best space-opera sandbox around, dragged down by a late game that slows to a crawl. Kit · Sadkitty Games

Loved

  • Huge freedom to design your species and government
  • Memorable event chains and anomalies
  • Late-game crises are genuinely thrilling

Not so much

  • Late-game lag and planet micromanagement
  • Constant system reworks make old guides useless

Play it if sci-fi fans who want to write their own space opera.

Skip it if players who want short, tight sessions.

Tips

Play it better

  1. Queue several science ships early and survey nearby systems fast; first come, first served.
  2. Grab choke-point systems with outposts to wall off rivals from your space.
  3. Pick ethics and civics that reinforce each other, like Militarist with Distinguished Admiralty.
  4. Watch planetary stability; low stability cuts output and can spark revolts.
  5. Don't poke Fallen Empires early; they're asleep, not weak.
  6. Build up a strong fleet and starbases before the late-game crisis date arrives.
