Set in Ivalice, Final Fantasy XII follows a band of rebels and sky pirates fighting an empire, told with the political weight of a war drama. The Zodiac Age remaster adds a two-job system and fast-forward to a game whose programmable Gambits were years ahead of their time.

Loved
- Gambits let you program your party like a tactician
- A huge, gorgeous world packed with hunts
- Excellent voice acting and political story
Not so much
- Main plot thins out in the back half
- Vaan and Penelo feel like guests in their own story
Play it if players who love setting up a machine and watching it win.
Skip it if people who want to press every button in every fight themselves.
Cheats & codes
No cheat codes
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.
Tips
Play it better
- Start with simple Gambits like 'Ally: HP < 50% → Cure' and 'Foe: party leader's target → Attack', then refine as you unlock more.
- Use the fast-forward button (L1 on PlayStation) when grinding or crossing big zones.
- Pick jobs that cover each other: one tank, one healer and a mix of damage keeps the early game smooth.
- Take Hunts from the Clan Centurio board. They're the best source of money and rare loot.
- Chain-killing the same enemy type raises the quality of drops, so stick to one monster when farming.
- Sell loot regularly. Selling specific combinations unlocks Bazaar packages with gear you can't buy anywhere else.
