The Unkindled must hunt down the Lords of Cinder in a dying, ashen kingdom. FromSoftware's final Dark Souls is the fastest and most refined of the trilogy, packed with some of the best bosses ever made.
Kit's verdict · 9.2/10
It's the trilogy's grand, polished finale, with an all-time great boss lineup.Kit · Sadkitty Games
Loved
- Spectacular boss fights
- Faster, tighter combat than earlier Souls games
- Excellent DLC
Not so much
- Leans heavily on nostalgia for the first game
- Fewer interconnected shortcuts than Dark Souls 1
Play it if anyone who enjoys hard, fair combat and boss mastery.
Skip it if players who want a story told plainly or a gentle difficulty.
Cheats & codes
No cheat codes
Dark Souls III doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.
Tips
Play it better
- Burn Undead Bone Shards in Firelink Shrine's bonfire to make each Estus Flask heal more.
- Give Estus Shards to Blacksmith Andre for more flasks, then ask him to rebalance Estus versus Ashen Estus for your build.
- Use an Ember before a tough boss to boost your HP and let you summon help.
- Jailers in Irithyll Dungeon drain your max HP when they stare at you, so rush them down fast.
- If a chest seems to breathe or its chain hangs oddly, hit it first; it may be a mimic.
- Buy the Tower Key from the Shrine Handmaid to reach an early tower holding useful gear.
