The Global Defense Initiative and the Brotherhood of Nod wage war over a strange mineral called Tiberium. C&C made real-time strategy a mainstream hit with fast missions, a pounding soundtrack and live-action cutscenes.
Kit's verdict · 8.7/10
Fast, gritty and full of personality, and Kane is still the best villain RTS ever had.Kit · Sadkitty Games
Loved
- Punchy, tank-heavy battles
- Iconic music by Frank Klepacki
- Campy, memorable live-action briefings
Not so much
- Unit pathfinding is clumsy
- No way to queue builds and little unit control
Play it if anyone who wants the purest version of 90s base-building strategy.
Skip it if players used to modern RTS conveniences and smart units.

Tips
Play it better
- Harvesters are your economy. Protect them and build a second refinery early.
- Engineers capture enemy buildings. Sneaking one into an enemy Construction Yard can win a mission outright.
- Sandbags and walls slow enemies and funnel them into your defenses.
- As GDI, the Mammoth Tank regenerates health and handles both tanks and infantry.
- As Nod, stealth tanks and the Obelisk of Light are your best tools.
- Sell buildings you no longer need to fund the next push.
