A boy named Serge slips between two parallel worlds and finds out that in one of them, he died ten years ago. The sequel to Chrono Trigger is a tropical, dreamlike epic with a massive recruitable cast and a legendary soundtrack.

Loved

- Clever stamina-based combat
- Gorgeous world
Not so much
- Huge cast means most characters are thin
- Story's final explanations are dense and rushed
Play it if players who love atmosphere, music and puzzle-box stories.

Cheats & codes

Chrono Cross doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.
Tips
Play it better
- You can flee almost any normal battle without penalty, so skip fights you don't need.
- Use cheap attacks to raise your element level before casting high-level Elements.
- Set Elements on the grid by color; matching the field color makes them stronger.
- Big stat jumps come from Star Levels earned by beating bosses, so grinding pays off very little.
- Smith gear from materials rather than buying it. Most top equipment is crafted.
- Some characters are exclusive to choices you make. Plan to play at least twice for the full cast.
