Loved
- Clean and simple
- Satisfying merges
- Free and works anywhere
Not so much
- Once you know the corner trick it's mostly routine
- Built on Threes' ideas without its charm
Play it if anyone who likes number puzzles and quick sessions.
Skip it if players who already love Threes and want its personality.
Cheats & codes
No cheat codes
2048 doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.
Tips
Play it better
- Pick a corner and keep your biggest tile locked there for the whole game.
- Mostly use only two or three directions, and avoid the one that would pull your big tile out of its corner.
- Keep the edge row next to your corner full so it can't shift unexpectedly.
- Build a descending chain of tiles along that row so merges cascade into the corner.
- Plan merges a move ahead rather than grabbing every pair the moment you see it.
