Valve's cartoonish class-based shooter, where nine wildly different mercenaries fight over capture points and payload carts. It invented the hat economy and is still one of the funniest shooters ever made.
Kit's verdict · 8.9/10
Nearly two decades old and still funnier, sharper and more characterful than most of its successors.Kit · Sadkitty Games
Loved
- Nine iconic, perfectly balanced classes
- Timeless art style
- Free with endless custom servers
Not so much
- Aging engine and few new updates
- Official servers have had bot problems
Play it if players who want a goofy, team-focused shooter with endless personality.
Skip it if players who need modern progression and constant new content.

Tips
Play it better
- Spy-check suspicious teammates by shooting or bumping into them; real teammates don't take damage.
- Protect your Medic. A charged ÜberCharge can win a whole push.
- As Soldier, learn to rocket jump by jumping, crouching and firing at the ground at the same moment.
- As Engineer, build your Sentry around corners, not in open sight lines.
- Call for a Medic with E so healers know who needs help.
- Change class to counter the enemy team, such as Pyro against Spies.
