Rows of aliens march down the screen while you blast them from a sliding cannon behind crumbling bunkers. It kicked off the golden age of arcades and made video games a global business.
Kit's verdict · 8.2/10
The march of the invaders is still one of gaming's great pressure cookers.Kit · Sadkitty Games
Loved
- Creeping tension that builds perfectly
- Simple, iconic design
- The heartbeat soundtrack speeds up with the danger
Not so much
- Very little variety from wave to wave
- Slow start feels dated now
Play it if score chasers who want to see where shoot-em-ups began.
Skip it if anyone who wants modern shooter flash or variety.
Cheats & codes

Tips
Play it better
- Shoot the mystery UFO on your 23rd shot and then every 15th shot after that to get its top 300-point value.
- Clear the invaders column by column from the edges, which slows how fast the formation reaches you.
- Hide under your bunkers but don't rely on them, since your own shots eat through them too.
- Bottom-row invaders are worth 10, middle rows 20 and the top row 30, so the top row is worth sniping early.
- The last invader moves very fast, so pre-aim where it will be rather than chasing it.
- Use the Nagoya attack: once invaders reach the lowest row, their shots appear below your cannon and can't hit you if you're right under them.
