Tips & secrets
About the game

Master Chief returns to finish the war against the Covenant and the parasitic Flood. Bungie's trilogy closer has big vehicle battles, a top-tier soundtrack and the multiplayer that ruled Xbox Live for years. Forge and Theater mode were way ahead of their time.

Kit's verdict · 9.0/10The most complete Halo package, with campaign highs and a multiplayer suite that defined console online play. Kit · Sadkitty Games

Loved

  • Huge vehicle-and-infantry battles
  • Legendary multiplayer and map editing
  • Marty O'Donnell's score

Not so much

  • Short campaign with a messy Flood stretch
  • Story leans on lore many players never saw

Play it if fans of big sci-fi shootouts, co-op campaigns and couch multiplayer.

Skip it if players who want a deep story without reading the expanded lore.

Cheats & codes

No cheat codes

Halo 3 doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.

Tips

Play it better

  1. Play the campaign in four-player co-op for the best chaos, and turn on scoring for friendly competition.
  2. Equipment like the bubble shield and regenerator can turn a losing fight; don't save them.
  3. Plasma weapons strip shields fast and human weapons finish the target; carry one of each.
  4. Melee from behind is an instant kill on most enemies.
  5. Hijack enemy vehicles by holding the button next to them as they pass.
  6. Save films in Theater mode to rewatch tricky fights from any angle.
