Crash and friends race to save Earth from alien speed freak Nitros Oxide. Its deep power-slide boost system made it a real rival to Mario Kart.

Loved
- Deep, rewarding boost system
- Great tracks and adventure mode
- Tons of things to collect
Not so much
- Relic races are punishing
- Hard to get into at first
Play it if kart fans who want skill to beat luck.
Skip it if players who want a casual, forgiving party racer.
Cheats & codes
No cheat codes
Crash Team Racing doesn't have cheat codes. The tips and secrets below are the next best thing.
Tips
Play it better
- Hop and power slide, then tap the opposite shoulder button when the exhaust turns black for a boost; chain three for a big one.
- Collect ten Wumpa fruit to power up your items.
- Press accelerate just as the last start light changes for a turbo start.
- Relic races are time trials, and smashing the clock boxes freezes the timer.
- Spell C-T-R on each track to earn tokens for the Crystal and Gem Cups.
- Boss races give the boss a trail of hazards, so stay to the side rather than behind them.
- Pick a racer whose stats fit the track: high-turning drivers like Coco suit twisty courses, top-speed drivers like Tiny suit long straights.
